Please read these Terms of Use carefully before using In The Black. By creating an account or using the platform, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

1. What In The Black Is

In The Black is a personal finance education platform. Its purpose is to help you understand financial concepts, build financial literacy, and think more clearly about your money. All content on In The Black — including module text, illustrations, the Financial Position framework, the Flow diagram concept, and the platform design — is owned by In The Black or its content contributors. Financial data you enter into the platform belongs to you. We do not claim ownership over your personal financial information.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, In The Black and its operators, directors, employees, and contributors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the platform or its content. We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. For material changes, we will provide notice within the platform.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising under these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario.
